Hello, and thanks for reading the job post.
?Are you an excellent english-speaker with an eye for detail and experience writing content? Perhaps you’ve edited or written blogs and books and are looking for a new challenge.
?If so, we want to hear from you.
?We are a small but growing self-publishing team with a number of successful non-fiction self-help skills-based books in the teen and young adult niches. We are looking for an editor to join the team to help us build out our portfolio of books. Topics being covered include Online & Digital Skills, Health & Nutrition Skills, Practical Skills, Social Skills, Navigating Puberty, to name a few. Whilst these are serious topics, with your help, we want to make them interesting, fun, and interactive.
The editor’s job is twofold:
1. To review, and improve the content from our team of writers, guiding them to ensure they adhere to the tone, writing style and stick to the overview and detailed outlines for each topic/book.
2. To write detailed book outlines and overviews to supply to the writers on a variety of different topics. This would include researching these topics, collating information from competitors, reading reviews to ascertain what people like/don’t like, and using tools such as ChatGPT and Google to summarise the content of the book into a structured outline that can be handed to a ghostwriter.
?A little about you and your skills. To be successful, you should ideally possess the following:
?- Have experience in writing (writing for teens or young adults is a definite advantage)
– Have experience writing outlines & editing books, including line editing, developmental editing and proofreading.
– Be completely fluent in English and have excellent grammar and spelling.
– Be incredible at researching, using prompts on ChatGPT or other AI tools to find great information – but ensuring that all your writing is 100% non-plagiarized, NON AI copy.
?- Be a quick learner, who can watch videos or read instructions and understand the scope of work.
– Be up to date on Teen / Young Adult stuff (devices, safety, social media etc.)
?- Be able to work independently
?- Be an excellent communicator. You must be able to speak and be contactable throughout the project (via WhatsApp, during part of the day UK-time).
– Be comfortable working with Google Docs, Asana.
?If you tick the boxes above, we would love to hear from you.
Note: This is initially a part-time job, where most likely we would collaborate on one project to see how we fit. Thereafter, if everything goes well I’d be happy to consider making this a full-time position.
?Please apply here with examples of your work, and how you tick the boxes above
?Thanks, and I can’t wait to hear from you!!!
