Services WBC provides include digital accessibility compliance auditing and remediation (WCAG, ADA Title II, Section 508, EN 301 549, and AODA), website accessibility, content accessibility, document accessibility, accessibility training, accessibility program management, and more.
WBC is seeking a dynamic and creative Accessibility Consultant to work directly with the Founder, Will Bubenik. The successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with Will to develop and execute the company’s Accessibility Services strategy, along with supporting Will with personal management tasks as an Accessibility Consultant.
The candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of WBC’s services and will be responsible for coordinating and managing various projects and initiatives across the organization. The right candidate will be the right-hand person to Will, providing support and guidance on all aspects of the company, and ensuring that our services meet the needs of our customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
WBC Responsibilities
• Perform automated accessibility testing and validate test results on digital assets – removing false positives/negatives.
• Perform manual accessibility testing against accessibility guidelines across all global navigation, page templates, and user journeys on desktop and mobile.
• Prepare and organize all accessibility test result data for accessibility engineering team for accessibility audit report and remediation road map.
• Analyze and synthesize user journey notes and feedback as well as prepare and organize all usability test data for accessibility engineer team, accessibility audit report, and remediation road map.
• Provide technical leadership and support across scope of work.
• Responsible for reviewing all accessibility violations found and usability tester feedback to provide specific code suggestions to be implemented.
• Develop prioritized remediation road maps based on test data, violation severity, density, and remediation difficulty.
• Meet with technical team as needed to troubleshoot, problem solve, and provide technical accessibility remediation guidance.?
• Creating documentation for accessibility statements and Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPAT’s) as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Knowledge and understanding of state and national accessibility laws and standards for digital resources including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) requirements, WAI-ARIA and Section 508 standards.
• Certifications like Trusted Tester, IAAP would be a plus.
• Common accessibility evaluation tools, e.g. axe and WAVE.
• Strong communication in English, specially written to describe the issues properly.
• Front end technologies – HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (experience with frameworks like WordPress, Drupal /or other content management systems are a plus).Familiarity with screen readers JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack
