Givens LLP Chartered Professional Accountants is in search of a highly skilled Accountant to join our growing team!

THE OPPORTUNITY

The objective of an Accountant is to maximize the businesses’ opportunity for fulfillment and growth. An Accountant builds relationships with new clients and manages relationships with existing ones whilst meeting time and revenue budgets and workflow deadlines. A successful Accountant will have a high level of intellectual curiosity to identify gaps, growth, and other potential for the client.

HOURS OF WORK:
The hours required are 40 hours a week with daily 1 hour unpaid lunch breaks.
All hours are noted in Edmonton, AB Canada Time zone – Biweekly on Wednesdays 9am and all other dates will be 3pm start.
We ensure our workers work the 5 days a week and receive their Saturdays and Sundays off in their respective time zone.

RESPONSIBILITIES

– Assist with internal firm accounting and administration. This includes but is not limited to: Accounts payable processing, payroll processing, monthly account reconciliations, payroll remittance processing, Administration of firm benefits, T4/WCB filing annually and other accounting requirements
– Perform general ledger account reconciliations, accurate reporting, and data verification, verify accuracy of data, and report, identify, and correct errors made by both internal and external personnel for Compilation Engagements
– Handle corporate and personal income tax preparation in all aspects
– Preparation of Bookkeeping, government forms and any ad-hoc jobs
– Support timely monthly, quarterly, half-year, and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all assigned client’s operational management accounts
– Ability to perform as part of a team while maintaining and building lasting relationships with clients and team members by understanding and anticipating their needs in advance

THE INDIVIDUAL
Success in this role calls for a motivated individual with proven experience in accounting and or bookkeeping and intermediate corporate tax experience with a high level of time management, organizational and analytical skills.
Your background includes the ability self-managed day-to-day activities, including production of taxation, fulfillment of accounting processes and identification of opportunities for clients. You’re a motivated professional who thrives on creating a climate of inclusion, trust, and productivity.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Essential)

• CPA Designation or related education
• 2+ years’ experience in an accounting and bookkeeping role
• 2+ years experience using Quickbooks Online
• Excellent Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel skills
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of accounting and corporate taxation principles and procedures
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment while building enriching relationships
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.?
• Accountable, takes ownership and makes decisions
• Ability to solve problems and alleviate conflicts or escalate tactfully
• Effective under pressure

Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Desirable)

• Certificate in Quickbooks Online
• Experience with Canadian accounting standards
