Company Overview

Stanton Group LLC is the parent company of Stanton Real Estate Partners LLC (SREP). Stanton is in the business of acquiring, renovating/re-developing/developing and operating residential and commercial real estate. SREP currently owns 18 buildings comprising approximately 160 apartment units and with 28 buildings and 210 units under contract and closing in early 2024. SREP is also currently developing a 250-unit single family rental community. SREP manages property and construction operations via a subsidiary called Stanton Management LLC (SM).

Role Overview

The accountant will personally execute all bookkeeping, accounting, reporting, payroll and AP/AR tasks for all Stanton Group entities and will also do the same for the personal accounts of the two owners/managing partners of the company. The accountant will report to both owners/partners of the company and work with Project Managers, Construction Managers and Property Managers.

We are looking for someone with at least 3 years of relevant experience but closer to the beginning of their career that can grow professionally with our business and manage additional accountants, bookkeepers and financial operations individuals as they become necessary.

Qualifications:
– At least 3 years of relevant experience
– Must have an Accounting (Finance degree in addition to Accounting degree is a plus)
– Managing processes
– Financial software
– Developing standards
– Financial skills
– Developing budgets
– Extremely well organized and able to work in a fluid, time sensitive environment
– Experience with QuickBooks Online required
– Experience with Appfolio highly preferred; would also consider experience Buildium or Yardi
– Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required
– Exceptional communication skills including the ability to communicate with all levels of staff and management and related third parties
– Team-oriented and able to share information, goals, opportunities, successes, and failure with appropriate parties

Nice to Have:
– CPA / Chartered Accountant
– GAAP
– Experience in real estate, property management and construction industry
– Experience working with multiple legal entities and complex corporate structures

Specific Tasks

Accounting / Bookkeeping:
o Daily bookkeeping for all entities/accounts/credit cards using QuickBooks Online and Appfolio.
o Prepare and assist with the input of all general ledger journal entries such as tenant payments, bank transfers, interest income, loan statements, expense reclassification, reserve contributions, etc. for real estate owned
o Track and record intercompany financial transactions.
o AP – process, record and manage payables
o Reconcile receipts
o Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual debt reporting/compliance
o Assist in the cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability and the maintenance of minimum required cash balances
o Assist in on-boarding of new properties and tenants to accounting platforms
o Manage and/or perform accounting and financial reporting functions including month end close, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
o Monthly adjusting journal entries for reserves, depreciation, prepaid accounts, accruals.
o Manage mortgage, insurance and property tax accounting and payments.
o Prepare Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for corporate and property entities.
o Bank and Credit Card Reconciliations.
o Month-end close.
o Manage Communication and Process with 3rd Party Invoice Vendor
o Prepare and assist with the input of all general ledger journal entries and perform accounting and financial reporting functions including month end close and reconciliations for the Management Company and General Partner Entities
o Preparation of month-end financials and analysis
o Projecting, monitoring, and managing company cash flow
o Tax compliance including income, sales, and property taxes.
o Process bi-monthly payroll and calculate sales commissions
o Prepares annual budgets and schedules
o Ad hoc reporting as needed

Financial Planning & Analysis:
o Prepare weekly cash flow reports
o Establish and maintain various budgets and compare to actuals.

Financial Operations:
o Payroll – process payroll weekly through Quickbooks (currently), ADP (starting 2024)
o Payroll Allocations – process weekly labor-per-building reports to generate and process inter-entity payroll allocations and invoices.
o AP – Executing payment runs.

General:
– Communicate with our CPA as needed for preparation of various taxes.
– Act as company liaison for bank and third-party accounting relationships
– Ad hoc financial and analysis tasks.

Salary / Pay Rate:
– The salary/pay rate will be determined in relation to the result of the candidate’s skills assessment.

Working Location & Hours:
– Work from home
– Monday to Friday
– Exact hours to be determined – at least a few hours of working time must overlap with US EST (New York City time)

Device and Connectivity Requirements:
– At least 50mbps internet speed
