Job Description

We are looking for an Accountant (Senior-in-Command) for our company. The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in accounting and managing Australian accounts with expertise in various accounting functions, tax compliance, financial reporting, and team management.

This will be a 2IC (Second-In-Command) position and will play a key role in supporting the firm’s operations and assisting the Principal Accountant in overseeing the accounting team.

Daily Responsibilities:

Client Communication:

Respond promptly to client inquiries and address urgent issues.
Schedule client meetings as needed.
Team Management:

Provide guidance and support to team members.
Monitor progress on client engagements.
Financial Oversight:

Review financial reports and monitor cash flow.
Address any discrepancies in financial records.
Client Deliverables:

Coordinate timely completion of client deliverables.
Review client files for accuracy before submission.
Strategic Planning:

Participate in strategic planning meetings.
Provide input on operational improvements.
Weekly Responsibilities:

Client and Team Meetings:

Conduct weekly client meetings and team check-ins.
Prepare agendas and facilitate discussions.
Performance Evaluation:

Evaluate team performance and provide feedback.
Recognize outstanding achievements.
Client Relationship Management:

Follow up with clients to ensure satisfaction.
Identify opportunities for additional services.
Continuing Education:

Allocate time for professional development activities.
Attend webinars and training courses.
Skills Required:

Accounting Expertise:

Demonstrate strong knowledge and proficiency in Australianaccounting principles and practices.
Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns, BAS lodgements, and other compliance documents accurately and efficiently.
Ensure compliance with relevant Australian accounting standards, regulations, and tax laws.
Team Management:

Provide leadership and guidance to the accounting team, including delegation of tasks, performance monitoring, and professional development.
Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment to enhance productivity and morale.
Conduct regular team meetings to discuss goals, challenges, and strategies for improvement.
Update and improve internal processes such as workpapers and workflow procedures
Lead in quality control for accuracy and compliance
Tax Compliance:

Manage tax compliance matters for clients, including income tax, GST, PAYG, and other tax obligations.
Liaise with clients and relevant authorities to address tax queries, audits, and assessments promptly and accurately.
Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and advise clients on potential implications and opportunities.
Financial Reporting:

Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections for clients.
Provide insights and recommendations to clients based on financial analysis and performance evaluation.
Collaborate with clients to develop strategic financial plans aligned with their business objectives.
Client Facing Responsibilities:

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by delivering high-quality services and personalized support.
Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering strategic advice, solutions, and insights to help them achieve their financial goals.
Conduct client meetings, presentations, and consultations to discuss financial performance, strategies, and opportunities.
