Our client, is one of the leading chartered accountant firms in Canada. They offer a wide range of accounting, assurance and tax consulting services to small and midsize owner-managed businesses in the greater Montreal area.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead and manage the accounting and operational functions with a focus on optimizing processes, leveraging technology, enhancing client experiences, managing client onboarding,and maintaining a systematic approach to operations
Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the Canadian business environment and proficiently handle accounting processes tailored to this specific context
Foster effective and proactive client communication to build strong relationships and ensure their needs are met
Continuously assess accounting processes and procedures to identify opportunities for streamlining, automation, and efficiency improvements
Oversee the preparation, review, and timely submission of accurate financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Manage and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to foster professional growth and development.
Ensure adherence to all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax requirements to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
Supervise and maintain the general ledger, ensuring proper recording and classification of financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and resolving discrepancies
Conduct regular financial analysis, interpret data, and provide insights to management on the financial performance, identifying trends, and proposing action plans
Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets, reduce financial risks, and ensure accurate financial reporting
Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations to facilitate a smooth audit process

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate of Accountancy with CPA license required
At least 5 years international accounting experience in an accounting firm (Canadian background is a great advantage)
With demonstrated history of effective people management
With advanced knowledge and skills using QuickBooks and has ProAdvisor certification
Tech savvy
Excellent communication skills
