Job Description

Attention advanced-level video editors!

We are looking for a highly experienced editor to support our Australian-based video production company, Rising Tide Film.
Please read the entire job post and follow the instructions – attention to detail is very important.

You will not get a response if all directions are not followed.

About Rising Tide Film – We help marine businesses connect with their audiences through story-driven films. It’s all about life on the water and how businesses add to the lives of their customers. We produce short-form, story-based branded content, and fast-paced social media cuts that are rich in sound design, and photography as well.

About This Role

The right person will create extremely high-quality, narrative films, as well as shorter social media edits from the shoots we produce. This will start as a freelance position, and advance to full-time for the right editor(s).

We are looking for someone who follows current trends, suggests creative ideas, and is an out-of-the-box creative thinker. Experience in editing similar-style videos is essential.

To be successful in this role, you need to show me that you…

-Can produce commercial / branding / talking head multi-cam / advertising / social media edits to a high quality, professional standard, and have a portfolio to prove this.
-Are fluent in either FINAL CUT PRO or Davinci Resolve – not Adobe Premiere.
-Have the latest version of Final Cut Pro or Davinci Resolve.
-Have edited remotely using a proxy workflow.
-Can utilise motion graphics, overlays, transitions, and key-framing to create engaging edits.
-Can accurately colour correct and grade SLOG-3 and ProRes, with impeccable skin tones using scopes.
-Are passionate about driving stories through detailed, layered SFX that add to the film.
-Are punctual, have excellent communication skills and speak English very well.
-Have knowledge or understanding of the boating industry and key terminology – please tell me in the first sentence of your response to this ad what the front of a boat is called.
-Understand storytelling and how to piece together a story using structure to create emotional engagement.
-Understand storyboarding and how to use them to construct a video.
-Be available to support on an ad-hoc basis.
-Can use Google Drive, Slack, and Trello to collaborate.
-Have worked with remote creators before so are familiar with the workflow.
-Be motivated and open to development.
-Be a valued, contributing member of our team as we grow our business!
-Please tell me in your response subject line how many followers Rising Tide Film has on Instagram.

Successful applicants will be asked to complete a paid trial video project as part of the interview process to assess their skills and ability to follow our process.

Some of the tasks required in this role are…

-Editing story-driven hero videos, where you’ll be required to build the narrative to form a strong story, sift through, select, and use provided b-roll to drive the story, find soundtrack options and use the stems to build the music to the story, and use sound design to create an immersive film.
-Creating short, fast-paced social media edits from the hero videos and other b-roll.
-And more…

There is a lot of opportunity to work on exciting projects together with the right person.

Please only apply if you are confident that you meet ALL of the requirements, and working with our team sounds exciting to you!

In your response, follow all instructions above and provide two links to work you’ve done that is relevant to the brief that you’d like for us to consider. Also, detail your experience and why you think you’re the right person for our team.

We will contact applicants who followed all instructions and will be asked to move on to the trial edit stage.
We’re looking forward to hearing from you!

Thanks!
Steve + the Rising Tide Film team.
