*****ABOUT THE ROLE*****
A Product Sourcer is responsible for providing a continuous flow of high quality deals to their Purchasing Manager. They work as part of a team by understanding the company’s, and team’s, goals then sourcing deals that align with these goals.
Product Sourcers deliver results through the profit of the deals they source not at time of purchase but, when they sell.
Deal sourcing is a main lever for maintaining and growing the business and therefore a Product Sourcer will need to be adaptable as the market, and business, evolve. They will work closely with their team to decide what and when to source but are given plenty of freedom to achieve their goals.
Product Sourcers who identify themselves as wishing to advance in their career are eligible to progress to the role of Assistant Purchasing Manager and take on leadership and managerial responsibilities. This is a stepping stone to becoming a Purchasing Manager.
*****RESPONSIBILITIES*****
Sourcing Strategy – Create a sourcing strategy that meets business requirements
– Create a Daily Product Sourcing Plan
– Consider various criteria in searching and choosing products, including competitor data, sales data, market/consumer trends, buying behaviour, associated risks, and overall business environment (such as pandemic)
– Create product mix strategy, considering stock levels per peak seasons, special events, and supplier lead time
– Submit required good deals based on defined periodic target to achieve required weekly spend target
Data Analysis – Provide reviews by keenly analysing data to find best product
– Search, analyse, and evaluate online suppliers and their product categories/ product range, in line with the company’s profit and sales targets as well as budget
– Analyse profit performance of products and evaluate profitability trends as well as pricing strategy, using various tools such as Keepa and SAS
– Track and analyse trends on products consumption
Achieve Profit Target
– Through the sale of the deals you found, which were purchased and resold, achieve the weekly and monthly Gross Profit targets for the product researcher role, as per the company’s requirements
– Other related tasks in support of business operations

We do use time tacking to aid in efficiency as this role is all about analysing as much data as possible, as quickly as possible.
