Appfolio Real Estate Accountant (Full-Time)

Overview

The Connected Companies is a real estate investment firm that owns and operates 500+ multifamily units and 1,500+ self-storage units in several states within the US (CA, CO, GA, NC, WA).

We are looking for an accountant with at least two years of Appfolio experience to assist us with maintaining the books, financial reporting, and related accounting tasks. This role is a fit for you if you have experience and interest in real estate investment funds, multifamily properties, and/or self-storage management.

Responsibilities
– Perform general bookkeeping duties for multiple accounts and properties, primarily within Appfolio
– Reconcile transactions and produce financial reports both at the property- and fund-level
– Detect, resolve, and report any financial irregularities or inconsistencies
– Produce ad hoc financial analyses as needed for internal use and/or investor-clients
– Create budgets and forecasts for each property on an annual basis
– Review financial reports submitted by 3rd party vendors for accuracy
– Maintain accounting file library and records

Required Experiences / Skills
– At least 2 years of direct accounting, bookkeeping, or financial reporting experience
– At least 2 years of experience working in the property management industry with direct experience using Appfolio, Buildium, or related management software
– Expert Appfolio and Quickbooks user
– Bachelors degree in business, finance, or accounting
– Very high attention to detail
– Basic project management experience (understand how to break down projects into smaller tasks and schedule them)

Other Requirements
– This is a full-time role, requiring 8 hours per day.
– Must work at least 4 hours a day during U.S. business hours (Pacific Time, PST)
– Must be able to work with teams and communicate professionally both with internal and external partners
– Have reliable power and internet to perform job duties or have back-up systems
– Be able to communicate over the phone as needed to discuss projects or issues
