Our client is a fast-growing firm that is looking for a hands-on accountant who has the potential to create and lead teams in the future as the business expands. The position provides room for growth and rewards on performance.

Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
– Start-to-finish work on financials and tax returns which include performing bookkeeping activities i.e. invoice posting, reconciliation, organizing payments, payroll, etc. to ensure accounts are always up to date for quarterly Business Activity Statement (BAS) preparation and annual returns
– Ongoing tax advisory work including complex tax issues such as Div. 7a, CGT, small business concessions, structuring advice, ATO disputes, SGC audits, employee share schemes, SRO/duty tax issues etc.
– Complex tax advice document preparation for clients, including research of ATO guidance documents and legislation.
– Tax planning and advice.
– Company secretarial work including ASIC company updates, preparation of minutes, company and trust setups, share registry maintenance etc.

To be successful in this role, ideally, you should have:

– 3 to 5+ years of working experience in an Australian accounting firm doing end to end work as discussed above
– Experience in using Xero Accounting System (or willing to learn it)
– Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills and able to use pivot tables, v-lookups, and maybe even develop basic macros to automate functions in Excel
– Access to reliable and high-speed internet
– Available during Sydney working hours full time (9-5 at least but there is plenty of flexibility)
– Occasionally, there could be some urgent ad-hoc tasks that may need to be completed and require longer hours. If you are a clock-watcher – PLEASE DO NOT APPLY!

– Fluency in the English language – written and verbal, comfortable communicating with Australian clients (via Video conference call)
– High attention to detail – lots of numbers involved, so any mistakes can cost millions of dollars

– Highly organized and disciplined adhering to deadlines and deliverables
– Able to work autonomously without supervision
– Being proactive, versatile, think outside the box – you are a natural at improving processes and systems and suggesting better ways of doing things
