About the Role:

This is a unique position designed for a motivated individual to become the right hand to an physician scientist at Baylor College of Medicine with expertise in immunology, who sees complex patients, runs a cutting-edge laboratory, is an award-winning educator, conducts groundbreaking research, writes influential books and scientific articles, owns an education company, and co-manages a real estate company with his physician wife. This role offers a rare chance to grow and learn a multitude of skills from a highly successful physician-scientist-entrepreneur.

Any educational background above bachelor’s degree will be considered, although applicants with a background in biology or medical sciences are preferred.

Expected effort is 20 hours per week for an initial trial period. This can increase to 40 hours per week depending on performance. Fully virtual. Those who excel as virtual assistants, have an medical background, and aspire to pursue medical residencies in the United States will be considered for a full time in person job at Baylor College of Medicine and full support for their medical residency application.

Tasks and Responsibilities

It is not expected that the applicant knows how to do all these tasks. The physician will spend the time needed to provide the necessary teaching and training. Not all tasks are applicable for the 20 hour trial period.

Logistics:
– Organize and manage the physician’s calendar.
– Ensure weekly schedules are free of conflicts and deadlines are met.
– Identify and alert of any scheduling conflicts.
– Meet with the physician weekly to carefully review and plan all appointments.

Lab Management:
– Remind of grant deadlines and assist in grant application processes.
– Maintain and organize a lab inventory.
– Search for grant funding opportunities and requirements.
– Contact biotech companies to obtain quotes for reagents.
– Recruit laboratory staff by reaching out to universities.
– Schedule interviews and manage applications for lab positions.
– Organize laboratory paperwork (MTAs, etc.).

Networking:
– Manage and organize professional network databases.
– Draft and post LinkedIn updates.
– Write and send thank you emails.
– Maintain connections with physician, scientist and pharmaceutical contacts.
– Keep track of professional contacts’ birthdays.
– Immunostudio (Education Startup Company):
– Format and organize company documents
– Manage company emails.
– Organize and respond to vendor communications.
– Assist with website design and maintenance.
– Prepare slide decks for presentations.

Book writing:
– Coordinate meetings and schedules.
– Reach out to and interact with reviewers.
– Perform basic document formatting.

Requirements:

– Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and email management.
– Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
– Experience in or a strong desire to learn about professional networking, lab management, and book writing/publishing.
