Job Description

Synct is on the lookout for a detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant with a solid background in Australian tax laws and principles to perform and coordinate accounting duties within our organization. The candidate must have good communication skills and excellent time management ability. Relationship with our clients is paramount so a pleasant friendly personality is a definite asset.

Responsibilities:
• Effectively manage and complete personal workflow requirements.
• Commitment to Financial, Non-Financial and Professional Development KPIs.
• Preparation of clear and detailed work papers and timesheet entries.
• Monitor WIP (Work in Progress), identify jobs over budget and identify and communicate development issues.
• Learn and follow processes as instructed while being militant on meeting high standards.
• Take detailed meeting notes and identify the work required in follow up to the meeting.
• Develop plan to complete and then execute all identified action items from the meeting.
• Prepare Financial Statements, Income Tax Returns, Business Activity Statements & Instalment Activity Statements for Australian SME clients (Individuals, Company, Trust, Partnerships & Sole Trader)
• Prepare workpapers and accounts to deal with Capital Gain events and Fringe Benefits Tax
• Prepare tax planning and investment strategy reports for clients demonstrating a high degree of competency in these areas.
• Assess complex tax matters for review by senior team members.
• Appropriately scope all work for job completion and develop plan for completion.
• Identify areas to improve the state of file or data collection and implement improvement measures for the next opportunity to complete the client’s work.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA qualification is a plus
• 3 or more years of experience in Australian Taxation and Compliance
• Familiarity with DIV7A
• Excellent communicator able to give clear written and verbal communication to everyone.
• You thrive on using your analytical skills and problem-solving abilities to identify and solve issues before they arise.
• You can work in a fast-paced environment, with strong time management and prioritization skills and sense of urgency to address critical business issues.
• You see the big picture while focusing on the process and procedures necessary to produce deliverables.
• Knowledge with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiar with accounting tools such as Xero, MYOB and Quickbooks.
