Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Tax Accountant to join our team. This position requires a thorough understanding and knowledge of Australian tax regulations and legislation. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of three years of experience in tax accounting, with specific expertise in Australian tax.

Responsibilities:

1. Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, small businesses, and corporations in accordance with current Australian tax laws and regulations.
2. Conduct tax planning and provide advice to clients on various tax strategies, ensuring compliance with taxation requirements while maximizing tax benefits.
3. Liaise with clients and relevant authorities, such as the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), to address any queries or issues related to tax matters.
4. Assist clients with the implementation of tax planning strategies to reduce their tax liabilities and optimize their financial positions.
5. Conduct research on complex tax issues and stay updated with changes in tax legislation, ensuring accurate interpretation and application of tax laws.
6. Prepare financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in relation to taxation requirements.
7. Provide guidance and training to junior staff members, mentoring them in tax accounting principles and practices.
8. Collaborate with other team members, including auditors and financial advisors, to ensure comprehensive, integrated tax solutions for clients.
9. Carry out periodic tax audits and internal reviews to identify potential tax issues or risks and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
10. Keep records of client interactions, transactions, and documentation in a timely and organized manner.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in accounting, finance, or a related field.
2. Minimum of three years of experience in tax accounting, preferably with specialization in Australian tax.
3. Strong knowledge of Australian tax legislation and regulations.
4. Proficiency in using tax-related software, as well as accounting software such as Xero, MYOB and Quickbooks.
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
7. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
8. A proven track record of maintaining high ethical standards and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
