Author/Writer

As a Manuscript Writing coach, you will play a pivotal role in guiding children through the process of writing and developing their manuscripts. Your expertise as an author, combined with your nurturing approach and understanding of child development, will empower young writers to explore their ideas, hone their storytelling skills, and create compelling narratives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide one-on-one coaching and mentorship to a child (age 9 years old) as he/she develops manuscripts from concept to completion.
2. Foster a supportive and encouraging environment that nurtures creativity, confidence, and a love for writing.
3. Assist the child in brainstorming ideas, developing characters, and crafting engaging plots that resonate with their target audience.
4. Teach fundamental writing techniques, including plot structure, character development, dialogue, and descriptive language.
5. Offer constructive feedback and guidance on grammar, punctuation, and storytelling elements to help the child improve their writing skills.
6. Encourage the child to explore diverse genres and styles of writing while respecting their voices and preferences.
7. Collaborate with parents to support the child’s writing goals and monitor their progress.
8. Celebrate and showcase children’s achievements by facilitating opportunities for publication, recognition, and sharing their work with a wider audience.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Proven experience as an author or writer, particularly in children’s literature, with a strong portfolio of work.
2. Strong writing and editing skills, with attention to grammar, punctuation, and style.
3. Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as word processing programs and content management systems.
4. Empathy, patience, and enthusiasm for working with children, coupled with a genuine interest in nurturing their creativity and self-expression.
