**Position Overview:**
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team for a contract job, specializing in real estate accounting with expertise in personal and corporate banking transactions, this job is to catch a business up on a years worth of books that have not been completed by a previous accountant that did not do the job they were hired for and did not correctly set up the QuickBooks system. The candidate will be an expert in QuickBooks Online and possess extensive knowledge of reconciling bank accounts, managing Visa and line of credit transactions, and handling complex financial structures involving shareholder loans. Additionally, familiarity with trust accounting regulations in Alberta is essential for this role. Excellent English communication skills are a must, as the candidate will interact with various stakeholders and provide detailed financial reports.
You will be given 4 weeks (1 month) to complete this task.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Conduct reconciliations for personal and corporate banking accounts, including checking, savings, and lines of credit.
2. Manage Visa transactions, ensuring accuracy and proper categorization in QuickBooks Online.
3. Handle complex financial structures, including shareholder loans, branch-to-branch transfers, and intercompany transactions.
4. Perform year-end reconciliations for both personal and corporate accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
5. Utilize QuickBooks Online to accurately record and track financial transactions, ensuring data integrity and timely reporting.
6. Provide expertise in real estate accounting principles, including property management, rental income, and expense tracking.
7. Collaborate with internal teams to gather financial data and support decision-making processes.
8. Stay updated on trust accounting regulations in Alberta and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
9. Generate comprehensive financial reports and statements, presenting findings to management as needed.
10. Proactively identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices to streamline accounting procedures.
**Qualifications:**
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
– Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or similar role, with a focus on real estate accounting.
– Expertise in QuickBooks Online and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
– Strong understanding of personal and corporate banking transactions, including reconciliations and financial reporting.
– Knowledge of shareholder loans, branch-to-branch transfers, and intercompany transactions.
– Familiarity with trust accounting regulations in Alberta is highly desirable.
– Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
– Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
– Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
