It is the responsibility of the Bookkeeper to record income and outflow of money, property, and all other financial assets for the company, across three clubs. The most important bookkeeper duty is to record and review all financial data accurately. To excel at this job, the Bookkeeper must pay close attention to details and be very accurate when recording numerical data. This role also requires the Bookkeeper to be ethical and to maintain the confidentiality of financial records.
The bookkeeper will manage financial information electronically, such as employee payroll for all three businesses, and will be able to master the use of spreadsheets, databases, and specialised computer software. The Bookkeeper is also responsible for writing financial reports, tracking purchasing, submitting bills for a client’s accounts receivables, and preparing files for federal and local taxes.
Your duties will include but are not limited to:
Data entry – Recording financial transactions and balancing the books.
Bank reconciliation – Cross-referencing the books against bank statements and other source documents such as receipts to confirm accuracy.
Monthly reports – Summarising the business’s financial position. Fully reconciled reports must be produced to the Director by the 4th of each month.
Accounts receivable (and credit control) – Creating and sending invoices, and following up to get them paid.
Accounts payable – Making sure invoices from suppliers are accurate and paid before the due date.
Payroll – Calculating pay and deductions and processing payroll for all employees across all clubs on a fortnightly basis.
Tax filing – Preparing tax returns.
End of year reporting – Assisting with annual profit and loss and balance sheet reports.
Business strategy – Creating budgets and forecasts and advising on how to improve the business.
Virtual office – Providing a full-service virtual office and communicating with colleagues in a timely and efficient manner using the relevant channels.
Liaison – Meeting with accountants, on behalf of their clients, about financials and tax queries. Acting on behalf of the client with the tax authorities.
Business Activity Statements – Creating BAS Statements and producing them to the Director on a quarterly basis.
