Job Description

Job Overview:
A bookkeeper plays a crucial role in the financial management of an organization by maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records. This position involves recording financial transactions, updating statements, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards. The bookkeeper works closely with other members of the finance team and may interact with vendors, clients, and auditors.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Record Financial Transactions:
– Accurately record day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
– Maintain and update financial records in the accounting software or ledger.

2. Bank Reconciliation:
– Reconcile bank statements with the company’s financial records to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
– Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.

3. Accounts Payable:
– Process invoices and ensure timely payments to vendors.
– Maintain a systematic and organized accounts payable system.

4. Accounts Receivable:
– Generate and send invoices to clients.
– Monitor and follow up on outstanding payments.
– Record and reconcile customer payments.

5. Financial Reporting:
– Prepare and generate financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
– Provide regular financial updates to management.

6. Payroll Processing:
– Assist in processing payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
– Maintain employee payroll records.

7. Compliance:
– Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial requirements.
– Assist in preparing documents for audits.

8. Communication:
– Collaborate with other members of the finance team to ensure a cohesive and efficient financial management process.
– Communicate with vendors, clients, and internal stakeholders as needed.

9. Financial Analysis:
– Assist in financial analysis and forecasting as required.
– Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data.

Qualifications:

– Education: A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
– Experience: Previous experience in bookkeeping or a related role is often required. Familiarity with NETSUITE accounting software is a must.

Skills:
– Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
– Proficient in the use of accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
– Good organizational and time-management skills.
– Knowledge of relevant accounting principles and regulations.

Contract: Independent Contractor – Full-Time Graveyard Shift

Benefits:
