Job Description

Job Title: Bookkeeper
Job Summary:

The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing a variety of accounting, bookkeeping, and financial tasks. The role involves recording transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and generating financial reports.

Key Responsibilities:

Record Financial Transactions: Accurately enter financial data into accounting software, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage and track all money owed by and to the company, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements with the company’s financial records on a regular basis.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements.
Payroll Processing: Assist in processing payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payment of salaries and wages.
Invoicing: Generate and send out invoices to clients, and follow up on outstanding payments.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards, and assist in preparing for audits.
Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and record-keeping.
Qualifications:

Education: A minimum of a high school diploma is required; an associate’s degree in accounting or finance is preferred.
Experience: Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role. Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) is highly desirable.
Certifications: Certification in bookkeeping (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper) is a plus.

Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and familiarity with accounting software.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies and issues in financial records.
Working Conditions:

Environment: Work is typically performed in an office environment.
Hours: Part-time, with potential for occasional overtime during peak financial periods.
