CAD Draftsperson – Floor Plan edits and Dimensions

We are a Lighting Retailer in Sydney Australia looking for a draftsperson to receive handwritten mark ups and convert them to CAD lighting design plans. They will primarily be residential homes, with some commercial projects. You must be proficient in reading and understanding architectural plans.

Plans will be sent to you in PDF format, you will have 48 hours to clean, and simplify them (removing architectural annotations, fills, hatches etc), matching an example set of plans provided at the beginning of employment. Once cleaned, you will send the house plans back to us for hand mark ups to begin.

We will mark up the plan with the specified pendant lights, downlights, strip lights, fans, wall lights etc, for you to plot with a key and return to us in 24 hours (symbol key will be provided). We will also show a switching plan for you to draw, and when complete, dimensions will be added for the electricians and builders.

Edits could be up to 4-6 per job, though usually they are just minor tweaks, all of which need to be turned around within 24 hours.

CAD skills, ideally Vectorworks, but any CAD software can be used.
You will need to be able to convert a PDF Architectural Floor plan into an editable drawing, ready to be cleaned and simplified, in your preferred CAD software. (e.g. ungrouping and exporting PDF files, converting them into lines in Vectorworks).
On occasion, you will need to clean an un editable PDF floor plan.

You will have excellent organisational skills to correctly number edited versions of the plans and keep everything organised and filled so at any time the current or previous version of a plan can be supplied to us in PDF.

You will be paid AUD $250 per job at the time the first edited plan is returned to us. We regularly have multiple jobs occurring at the same time and many that require tweaks months after they have been initially drawn up. So, organisation is crucial.
