We are a very busy illustration studio for children’s publishing, toys & games, and comic art. This is a growth position with potential for work on a wide variety of different projects.
We are only interested in creatives who are RELIABLE; with an eager and positive attitude who are easy to work with and who are interested in being long-term partners. Creatives that exhibit these qualities who are chosen for work assignments will receive a lot of work from us.
Applicants must be a children’s style cartoon illustrator, and be capable of making occasional edits to the artwork if necessary. Must be very detail oriented, preferably with work experience on licensed characters and IP. Excellent drawing skills in both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator are required.
The primary Art Director task is to review and critique work-in-progress from our art team (both digital pencil sketch in Photoshop and finished color in Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator vector art) to ensure that work is on-model with established character designs and adheres to brand standards. We will send you reference materials and style guides so you can learn the requirements of the styles for a given project.
Art Directors will carefully review all details of submitted artwork, identifying details that are not in line with brand standards and will reply to the artist, pointing out details that need to be fixed and provide clear constructive feedback to the artist for their next round of revisions.
Excellent written communication skills are required, with the ability to provide feedback in a way that is clear but with a friendly and encouraging demeanor.
Art Directors’ review of the artist’s work must be completed and sent within 48 hours of artist’s submission. Within this 48 hours, your work hours are flexible – however your review must be thorough and accurate without missing details, in order to minimize the time and number of revisions required by the artist.
Pay rate is a flat fee of $100 USD per completed book, in 2 stages; 50% of payment will be sent upon approval of a full book’s sketch pages, with the remaining 50% paid upon approval of all finished color pages. Books typically range from 18-30 illustrated pages. Payment is sent within a matter of days via Paypal or Wise.
Applicants: Please describe in detail your previous work experience with managing illustrators or other similar qualifying experience (if any) — this is a plus, but is not required.
Please send resume and your portfolio links showing work applicable to this task: such as children’s book and comics illustrated pages or other children’s illustration as well as cartoon character and licensed properties work, in both vector and photoshop. All submissions must be your own original work.
Thank you, we look forward to reviewing your materials.
