JSK is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our growing construction business. The ideal candidate will oversee the day-to-day financial operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and maintain effective internal control.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
Prepare and ensure the accuracy of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
Provide timely and accurate internal financial reports to senior management.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of the company’s annual budget and monitor its execution.
Create financial forecasts and variance analyses to predict future financial performance.
Internal Controls and Audit:
Develop and maintain internal control systems to protect company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial information.
Coordinate internal and external audits, address findings, and implement recommended improvements.
Accounts Management:
Oversee the accounts payable function to ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices.
Manage the accounts receivable function, including billing, collections, and credit management.
Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and compliance with relevant tax and labor laws.
Financial Analysis:
Analyze costs and expenses to identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Oversee project accounting to track project costs, revenues, and profitability.
Tax Management:
Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and filing requirements, including income tax, sales tax, and payroll taxes.
Assist in tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
Financial Systems and Technology:
Oversee financial systems and ensure they are properly maintained and updated.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement new financial tools and technologies.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and mentor the accounting team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge.
Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for accounting staff.
Strategic Support:
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic business decisions.
Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree or CPA preferred).
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
