Responsibilities:

Collaborate with authors and illustrators to develop captivating children’s books across various genres and age groups.
Provide constructive feedback and editorial guidance to authors to enhance the clarity, coherence, and overall impact of their manuscripts.
Conduct thorough manuscript assessments, copy editing, and proofreading to maintain editorial excellence and accuracy.
Stay abreast of industry trends, market demands, and educational standards to inform editorial decisions and content development.
Work closely with design and production teams to ensure seamless execution of book projects from concept to publication.
Cultivate strong relationships with literary agents, authors, and other industry professionals to acquire new talent and expand our publishing portfolio.
Champion diversity, inclusion, and cultural sensitivity in children’s literature, promoting representation and accessibility for all young readers.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, Journalism, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Proven experience (3+ years) in editorial roles, preferably within the children’s publishing industry, with a track record of successful book acquisitions and publications.
Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling.
Strong project management abilities to effectively prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with authors, illustrators, and internal teams.
Knowledge of children’s literature trends, age-appropriate content, and developmental milestones.
