Job Description

Seeking a part-time blog content editor with experience in & great curiosity about the food industry, with the likelihood of full-time work at the start of 2024. I’m looking for someone detail-oriented, with native-level English proficiency; I offer great benefits on top of a competitive salary. I’d prefer that you have previously worked in the food industry, but it’s not necessary if you have an eye for detail in research.

***Editor Responsibilities***

– Carefully cross-reference articles against instructions & SOP to ensure it meets our style and content standards.
– Check through articles for spelling & grammar issues & plagiarism using Quetext (you will be provided with access to a premium account).
– Spend time reviewing each article to find errors that the tools may have missed and make necessary modifications.
– Handle approximately 6,000+ words worth of editing per day on average (If you’ve read this sentence, please use the word “pharaoh” in your application title.), in addition to adding internal links & ensuring posts are properly formatted within WordPress.
– Be able to commit an average of 4 hours per day during American business hours on Monday to Friday.
– Once settled into your role, provide constructive feedback to team members on content, writing style, and technical accuracy.

***Workload & Compensation***

– I’m looking for someone to work an average of 20 hours per week (for $300USD per month) right now, excluding paid time off (see below).
– I believe it’s important to have structure at work, so I do require a short email at the end of each work day, letting me know very quickly: what you did that day & what problems you ran into that day. I want us to work together to figure out any issues, and the best way to solve them.
– I will train you in any software you’ll need to use, and give constructive feedback. I’m open to whatever works for you, but I do need you to have a set schedule ahead of time so that I know when to expect finished articles. You’ll need to use Timeproof for your hours.
– After 6 months, in addition to the monthly salary I do pay benefits (15 working days’ paid leave, 7 days’ sick leave, SSS, and paid Philippine national holidays). Payment is sent on the 1st and 15th of the month (earlier in December).

***Ideal Candidate***

– Has a strong sense of what it takes to run a successful website and create top-quality blog content that puts readers first.
– You have at least basic knowledge of SEO, and are creative enough to notice gaps in topic coverage as well as related topics we may want to write about in the future (or have written about & should link to from that article).
– Have worked directly with writers, or have managed a writing team before.
– Hate fluff: If it’s not vital to push the post forward, it’s on your chopping block.
– Are a perfectionist: It’s really hard to get a typo, grammar error or inaccurate statement past you.
– Are not SO perfectionist that you get paralyzed: You’ll have a lot of content to edit, so you’ll need to make quick decisions and work efficiently.

To apply for this job, please send your resume/portfolio, relevant work samples, and tell me about your editing experience. If selected, you’ll be contacted on or before May 14th & asked to do a paid test article and answer some written interview questions.
