Data Analyst

We are looking for an intermediate to expert level data analyst to help us analyze & report on US financial market data (such as stocks & stock options)

This will be a challenging, but FUN, role where you will be able to flex your analytical & critical thinking skills on a daily basis.

If you are looking for a job where you will be doing the same thing every day, this will NOT be a good fit for you.

But, if you love having the opportunity to work on new projects & challenges, learn new things ( A LOT! ), and GROW both as a data analyst and as a person, please keep reading!

Some general requirements:

You should have a solid background in working with data, analyzing data, finding patterns and solutions using data analyst and statistical methods.

You should understand statistics & probability, and be able to report on your findings in a clear and actionable way.

You should be able to quickly and accurately answer specific questions about the data (Example: What was the mean and standard deviation that Apple (AAPL) Stock moved on a daily basis between 2016-2022)

You should be familiar with managing & analyzing data using some of the following tools: Excel, SQL Database (ex MySQL), Business Intelligence tools (Ex: MS Power BI), Reporting data

It would also be great (but not required) if you had any experience in Machine Learning / AI, or would be willing to learn.

We’re really looking for a great long-term working relationship here that can be fun and collaborative – we want to make sure you enjoy what you are doing, and love coming to work every day.

This will initially be a part time role (10-20 hours / week), but with the right person, we would like to grow this to a full time role (40 hours / week) over time.

We don’t care where you are based, and we’ll do most of our communication async (ex: Trello and Slack), but we would ask that you be available to be “online” (ex: Zoom or Slack) for discussions, brainstorming, and collaborative problem-solving a few (1-3) hours a week during US East Coast Time – GMT-5. (we can work out a schedule that works for both of us)

We’ll also want to have discussions with you and brainstorm on concepts together – we’re looking for someone who not only enjoys data, but also enjoys answering tough questions with the data, and working together to do this. As part of this collaboration, good written & spoken English skills will be needed.

Previous experience in the financial markets (stock, options, futures, forex, crypto etc..) is a plus for this role, but not required. However, you will be expected to learn some basic to intermediate knowledge in these areas if you are not yet familiar. We’ll help by providing content, buying you books or courses etc.. but you’ll also need to be willing to spend the time, and be passionate about learning new things.

As part of our hiring process, I always have new team members to do a small test project to show their skills and make sure we are able to work well together, and communicate properly.
