Job Description

Hello! We are looking for full-time data engineer to join our team as soon as possible. This is a 6 month position, with the potential for extension.

We are looking for a data engineer with strong experience designing, building, and scaling big data solutions. You will help develop and build the vision of incorporating data from various property management systems more fully into our existing products, while both designing and modeling datasets and working directly with a modern data stack.

We are a small but mighty team with big ambitions. As such, we’re all builders. You won’t just simply review data designs and sign off on them, you’ll build solutions and mentor engineers as we go. The best candidate for this role is someone with a strong attention to detail just as eager to write code as they are to test the outcomes of their models.

Here’s a sample of responsibilities:

• Design, architect, and maintain core data lakes and data warehouses that support our rapidly evolving product line.
• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines to operationalize the data that drives our applications.
• Integrate with teams consisting of product managers, software engineers, and financial analysts throughout the organization to understand their data needs and design datasets with engineering rigor.
• Drive data quality and best practices across key product and business areas.

Here’s what we’re looking for in a candidate:

• 5 or more years of experience designing and building data sets, data lakes, and data warehouses.
• Experience designing, architecting, and maintaining a data warehouse and data marts that seamlessly stitches together data from production databases, clickstream data, and external APIs to serve multiple stakeholders.
• Expert level proficiency in building data pipelines in a cloud-native environment.
• Automation mindset with comfort operating with DevOps related tasks (monitoring, infrastructure as code, microservices, CI/CD etc.).
• Strong sense of ownership and pride in your work, from ideation and requirements-gathering to project completion and maintenance.
• A willingness to grow and learn in your role and help others grow in theirs. Everyone on our team is both a student and a teacher.

You’ll be joining a department of 7 engineers, 2 QA testers, 1 Tech Support Analyst, and a Product Manager. We manage work via Slack for communication and GitHub for source control. We meet Monday through Friday at 9:00 a.m. ET via Zoom for a daily standup.

And that’s the rub: we will need you online during Eastern Time hours. We know that’s overnight for you, but we’ve found that having everyone together at the same time makes for the best kind of team!

The name of our business is Resident Interface. We help property owners protect their assets.

Soft Skills:
* Deadline-driven
* Self-starter
* Able to take direction

Terms:
* Full-time, 40 hours per week
* Contractor
* Online U.S. Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. ET and 3 p.m. ET
(flexible start and end time, as long as you’re online between those hours)

As part of your application, please tell me about a few data engineering projects you’ve worked on. What technologies did you use? When do you decide between SQL and NoSQL (and is there a use case for each)?
