Our company is a US-based e-commerce business with over 800 products, an engaged Facebook and Instagram community, and a content blog in the beekeeping space. We utilize Shopify, WordPress, and Amazon for our business. Our business is an established business, and while we are an e-commerce business, we also have a brick-and-mortar store. We started in 2014 as an online business, expanded into Amazon in 2019, and opened a physical store in 2021.
Taking care of the financials is a key part of any successful business, and it’s necessary but not always fun. If you think bookkeeping is fun and creating spreadsheets, reconciling accounts, and finding a place for every penny excites you, let’s talk. You have to love doing this type of work because it takes a unique person to do well in this position.
It’s essential to communicate well as a bookkeeper, both with the owner of the business and as well with our US CPA. With a fast-moving business, there are a lot of transactions and moving parts, so it’s essential to stay on top of those so they don’t get out of hand. Don’t know what a receipt is for? Ask before it’s too late.
I mentioned before that we sell through Amazon, the Shopify website, Brick and Mortar, and conferences. It’s important to reconcile all of these transactions properly in QuickBooks and be comfortable managing those.
When applying, you need to write three things subject lines, write “Bookkeeper,” write how many years you have been a bookkeeper for an e-commerce company, and write the name of the first beekeeper to climb Mount Everest.
To apply, you must have experience with reports, QuickBooks, E-Commerce, Shopify, and Amazon. You should also have 2+ years of experience in bookkeeping with an e-commerce company.
The hours are flexible, but there will need to be some overlap with Central Standard Time to encourage good communication. Anticipate 10-15 hours per week.
