With groundbreaking technology that simplifies gift cards for consumers and businesses, we are bringing together an amazing team of engineers globally.
As we grow, the reliability of our applications and infrastructure becomes even more critical, with customers always front of mind, we will add a DevOps Engineer to the Tech team. Reporting to the DevOps Manager, the candidate will assist with bridging the gap between our developers and IT operations.
Dedicated to automation, system reliability in production, fixing issues, and responding to incidents, the DeOps Engineer will also be on call – our first responder to key alerts to ensure appropriate real-time collaboration as required by the broader team.
You have a collaborative mindset and know how to keep your finger on the pulse, building upon historical knowledge, whilst also ruthlessly prioritizing what needs to get done to ensure ongoing service reliability.
What you will do:
? Improving the platforms scalability, reliability, monitoring, and alerting processes in a collaborative way
? Management of DevOps pipeline tools including GitHub Actions
? Proposing changes to cloud platforms and underlying architecture to enhance security & resilience to failure
? Ensuring our systems can perform and scale in line with increasing demand
? Proactively recommending opportunities, whether it be hands-on day-to-day code changes or administration, through to exploring new technology and solutions to mitigate risk or increase our performance
? Supporting the Incident Lifecycle framework, managing the Root Cause Analysis for system outages/incident processes
? Creating Monitors, Dashboards and SLOs & SLIs to ensure transparency and real-time collaborative responses
? Identifying future performance bottlenecks and helping design and implement solutions, forming contingency plans where necessary
? Designing and implementing processes, tools, and automation to improve the reliability of the Cloud services
? Working with engineering teams to ensure DevOps best practices and tools are rolled out in every service across the whole cloud infrastructure
? Ensuring our software documentation is up to date
? Collaboration, liaising with team members, management, and external suppliers to ensure projects are completed to standard, in line with our strategic goals and ambitions, and the timelines set
? Transparency around challenges, learning from failures, and celebrating successes
? Contributing to a culture of performance, living up to commitments, and having a focus on continuous improvement leveraging agile methodologies
? A focus on being up to date with industry trends and developments

What you can demonstrate:

? Hands-on implementation experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, CI/CD, Docker, and Datadog
? Good working knowledge of system security issues and incident management
? Deep knowledge across the AWS cloud platform
? Observability tooling such as DataDog, Splunk, NewRelic, SumoLogic
? Expert understanding of DevOps and Automation principles and Infrastructure as a Code concepts and techniques
? The ability to work across multiple locations and time zones
? Excellent technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills
? Familiarity with the Agile/Scrum tools framework
? Highly effective cross-functional working style and excellent communication
? Previous experience with Confluence, Jira, or other similar tools is a must

Your qualifications:

? Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field or related professional certifications
? Previous experience working in DevOps, SRE, or similar in a modern public cloud environment
? Proven experience working in financial services or payments, a fast-moving, fast-paced fintech start up

For the first 3 months, you will:

? Enjoy your onboarding experience and become familiar with our strategic vision
? Make the time to understand the tech environment and our ways of working
? Build relationships with key stakeholders and peers across the team
? Get familiar with our Infra as Code, pipelines, and SRE tools
? Design and develop monitors and dashboards to ensure site reliability
? Work collaboratively with the development teams on other tasks, such as alerting, monitoring & cloud infrastructure to help them achieve their goals
? Understand, build & maintain cloud services

For the first 6 months and beyond:

? You have built credibility, demonstrating you are a master of your craft, sharing your expertise
? You have enhanced our engineering team’s capability and performance standards
? The cadence is established, you plan and execute regular review processes and outline the actions for our systems, access and network controls, registers, and infrastructure
? You demonstrate your expertise, in defining and implementing new systems and services to support the company’s expansion to other regions in line with the Company’s ambitions
? You collaborate with the team to plan and support our physical gift card capability, including supporting the physical location security, access and required services and networking
? There have been team success and celebrations in line with the achievement of our Company strategy and our milestone plans
