Those of you may remember a post from approximately 1 or 2 months ago giving tips on how to stand out and get a job. Well, here are some more helpful tips:
1) Follow the instructions given. If the employer is asking “specifically” to send an intro video then send it. Understand, there are 100’s of people looking for work. Not following the instructions sets a bad first impression and likely the employer won’t even look at your application so, please follow the instructions given.
2) Intro videos should be short 1-2 min long describing your work experiences and other skills. Employers are not concerned that you have a cat named “Fluffy.” 🙂
3) Be Honest: Having work references available when asked. The best indicator ( in most cases) of how someone will do with a new company is how did they do with the old company. If you feel good that the previous company will say great things about you then use that to your advantage and provide U.S. work references and contact information. No, don’t use a Filipino-based manager as a reference, employees assume it’s likely a relative or friend.
4) Always have previous employees listed from most recent to last on your resume.
5) Mention all skills you have that make you stand out and what you feel your strengths are?
6) Providing social media like FB and Instagram are great ways to let employers know you are who you say you are. Think about it, would you hire someone from a different country without knowing who they are?
7) Follow Up! If you really want the position then show the employer by following up with them. This is the difference between getting a job and not. Be persistent because it looks professional.
We hope this was of help to you. if so, let us know. Also, we have posted a position looking for an Experienced VA with Real Estate with Global Florida Realty. If interested, check out the job posting or send your intro video and resume here. Thanks
Side Note: A Heads Up To People Trying To Run Scams: Unfortunately, there are people out there looking to take advantage of foreign employers. What they may not realize is the Phillipino government takes this very seriously as foreign money contributes greatly to the local economy not to mention giving hard-working people the chance to change their financial situation. Each situation resulted in jail time and major fines for the scammers. Don’t be that person.
Good Luck!
