The Consultant Agency is looking for an Electrical Estimator to join our team. The role combines the responsibilities of estimating and managing people and resources. The successful candidate will analyze electrical drawings, specifications, and project documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for residential and commercial electrical installations.
Job Responsibilities:
*Review project documentation, including electrical drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities.
*Analyze project requirements and determine the scope of electrical work needed for commercial projects.
*Liaise and collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project objectives and constraints.
*Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for electrical installations, considering materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and project-specific factors.
*Utilize estimating software and tools to streamline the estimation process and ensure consistency and accuracy.
*Identify and quantify project risks and uncertainties that may impact the estimate.
*Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and equipment.
*Provide clear and comprehensive documentation of the estimating process, assumptions, and basis of estimates.
*Collaborate with the project team to develop value engineering options and cost-saving alternatives.
*Support the project team during the procurement and construction phases, providing guidance on cost-related matters and changing orders.
*Oversee the overall operations of the estimating department, including resource allocation, process improvement, and performance management.
*Develop and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and profitability in the estimating process.
*Stay updated with industry trends, codes, standards, and best practices related to electrical estimating and operations management.
*Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the estimating team.
Job Requirements:
*Proven experience as an electrical estimator, working on residential and commercial projects completed in Australia.
*An expert in AroFlo (not a make-or-break requirement)
*Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, standards, and construction practices.
*Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
*Familiarity with Ground plan estimating software, Simpro job management, and Gmail email management.
*Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
*Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
*Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
*Strong time management and organizational skills.
*Proven experience in operations management or a related role is highly desirable.
*Familiarity with local suppliers, subcontractors, and industry pricing trends is a plus.
*Professional certifications are desirable but not mandatory.
*Familiar with the Wiring rules of Australia
*Exceptional negotiating skills when dealing with suppliers and subcontractors
*Project estimator specializing in electrical estimating
*Graduate and licensed electrical engineer (preferred but not a requirement)
*Has experience in managing a team (engineers, estimators, draftsmen, architects, etc.)
