Job Description

I’m a senior academic working at one of the UK’s leading universities. I’m looking for a PA to help with my administrative tasks. If the PA proves capable and successful at their tasks, there may be the possibility of increasing hours and incorporating additional tasks including social media management and some research

This role will entail working closely with me, having regular meetings, responding quickly to requests, and in general, helping me stay on top of my to do list. *This work requires a high level of trustworthiness in the candidate,* as they will be managing all of my professional affairs.

Essential skills and character traits the PA will need to have:
1. At least 1 year experience managing and writing professional emails
2. Impeccable writing skills in English (at least C1)
3. Familiarity with email, GSuite, and Outlook
4. High levels of efficiency
5. High level of trustworthiness
6. Ability to respond quickly (within 1-2 hours) to queries during UK working hours (9am – 5pm UK time)

Desirable
1. Academic excellence in writing, and capable of emulating my email style (C2 English)
2. Masters level or higher training in the humanities or social sciences
3. A knowledge of the Western academic sector
4. Some knowledge of the field of Islamic studies
5. Ability to respond in a timely manner, even if requests are made outside of working hours on occasion

Main tasks
1. Email management
a. Sending and receiving professionally written emails
b. Consulting with me and responding to my emails
c. Adding important tasks from my email to my To-do list
d. Archiving/deleting irrelevant emails

2. To-do list management
a. Updating my to-do list regularly

3. Calendar management
a. Inputting relevant events into my Google calendar
4. Coordination of all of the above with me using WhatsApp
5. Brief meetings, either daily, or every two days, to track progress

Hours
1. I am seeking a candidate who, in the first instance, will be able to work 2 hours/day, Monday-Saturday.
2. Some availability on Sunday would also be welcome if possible.
3. If the work proves productive, the hours may increase over time to 4 hours/day, over the course of a few months.
