Job Description

As a Content Editor, you will oversee the company’s overall publishing needs. You will be responsible for researching, proofreading, and publishing both traditional and online media. You will also analyze readership data and develop content strategies to increase user engagement. In addition, you will also fact-check articles and ensure the use of proper spelling, grammar, and syntax in outputs.

Deliverables:

Lead editorial calendar creation/management — (e.g., once the topics are approved, slate everything in and double-check project timeline dates are correct).
Find content gaps and opportunities to rank in featured SERP boxes;
Conduct SERP research to create outlines for writers to work on;
Come up with blog post titles and meta descriptions for SEO, and ensure content briefs are completed and formatted for our freelance writers;
Communicate with freelance writers on editing and submission deadlines with little to no oversight;
Editing long-form blog posts on our blog for SEO best practices and against client content briefs (fix spelling, grammatical, stylistic, punctuation, and structural mistakes that have been overlooked while preserving the tone of the article and ensuring it meets the readers’ intent, etc.);
Fact-checking to ensure the end product is reliable and that it contains relevant, valuable information;
Validating page elements, including links, images, videos, and page layouts;
Providing corrective feedback to writers and editors when necessary;
Bring new ideas to the table about improving our internal content production process.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Marketing, Communications, Public relations or any related field; Experience in related fields can make up for degree.
Experience: 2-4 years experience in a related role;
Skills: Proven work experience as a Content Editor, Hands-on experience with MS Office and WordPress, Basic technical knowledge of HTML and web publishing, Knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics, Familiarity with social media, Good SQL & Excel skills, Ability to use tools such as Slack, Google docs, Grammarly, Ahrefs, SurferSEO & HEMINGWAY app, Good Analytical Skills, Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills, Ability to Identify and Communicate Trends, Strong Problem-Solving Skills, Data-driven.
