Expert WordPress Developer

We are a small creative studio based in Perth, Australia.

We are looking for a talented frontend-focused developer (backend knowledge will still be looked on favourably) to work with us to modify existing websites with SCSS and jQuery, and build new WordPress and Shopify websites based on our framework and established processes, using primarily these languages, layered on top of PHP and occasionally Liquid.

We are looking to offer the suitable candidate a role consisting initially of 12-18 hours per week during a trial period, before upgrading to 12-30 hours of paid work per week based on demonstrated ability. This would be set to approximately a 10am to 5pm (flexible) schedule on weekdays only, including a one hour lunch break each day. Any trial work undertaken with us will be paid for, excluding our qualification test.

This is a fully remote working contractor role, requiring no transit. Our timezone is the same as the Phillipines. Work is conducted via Discord and this is a requirement for both interviews to qualify for the role, and the role itself.

The following traits are required for the role:

– Be fluent with English
– Be reasonably available for calls and text chat for 6 consecutive hours on agreed work days and agreed hours
– Be used to and be capable of delivering to tight deadlines
– Be willing to join our company Discord and be reasonably available for new work
– Be willing to take calls from our director for training and to gauge progress
– Be willing to work on our provided cPanel based server infrastructure
– Have available a portfolio of work for us to review
– Have available an excellent internet connection and mic/headset for calls

The following skills are required for the role:

– jQuery expert knowledge including writing and pre-minifying
– SCSS expert knowledge including writing, compiling and pre-minifying
– Capability to modify frontend code in custom WordPress plugins, themes and child themes
– Capability to use at least JS to interact with external documented APIs, or PHP if known
– Understanding and expert usage of GIT repositories stored on Github
– Register, enqueue, deregister and dequeue files as part of a WordPress theme/plugin
