Job Description

Verification of Expenditure for EU-Financed Aid Projects As a Verification Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper utilization of European Union aid funds. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct thorough examinations of expenditures related to various aid projects financed by the EU, verifying their eligibility and compliance with established regulations.

Responsibilities:
Perform on-site inspections and desk reviews of project financial records to validate the accuracy and legitimacy of reported expenditures
Analyze supporting documentation, such as invoices, contracts, and payment records, to confirm the eligibility of costs claimed by project beneficiaries
Identify any discrepancies, irregularities, or non-compliance issues and document them in detailed reports
Recommend appropriate corrective actions and follow up on the implementation of these measures
Provide expert advice and guidance to project managers and finance teams on the interpretation and application of EU financial regulations
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and monitoring authorities, to ensure a comprehensive verification process
Maintain meticulous records and documentation to support the verification process and facilitate potential audits

Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial auditing or verification, preferably in the context of EU-funded projects
Thorough understanding of EU financial regulations, including the applicable directives, guidelines, and best practices
Proficiency in analyzing financial statements, budgets, and supporting documentation
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address discrepancies
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with project teams and stakeholders
Fluency in English, with the ability to work in additional EU languages preferred
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification is an advantage
