We provide Fractional CFO and Bookkeeping services for fast-growing eCommerce Brands and Agencies from Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom with one goal in mind:

To help eCommerce business owners scale their businesses with more cash and less stress.

This requires a broad range of skills including financial modeling, risk management, understanding of US/Canadian GAAP, financing, audit, investor relations, and more.

We are small but growing fast, which means you will get the chance to specialize and grow into future roles.
Lastly, as you might expect of a finance company, we work really hard when we need to, but we don’t work hard just for the sake of it. We don’t miss our kids’ concerts, we work out during the day and we usually sign off early on Fridays.

You’re an Elite and Experienced Financial Controller who is passionate about having a real impact on people’s lives. The work you do for our clients helps them truly unplug on vacation, have more time with their kids, and get back to enjoying running their businesses. You will work in the UK time zone (UTC +1).

What you will do

• Managing all financial aspects of the business, including but not limited to, the preparation and analysis of monthly financial reports, budgeting, forecasting, and tax filings.
• Designing and implementing efficient financial processes, systems, and controls to support the growth of the business.
• Overseeing and managing the company’s financial systems, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and driving improvements where necessary.
• Preparing and presenting financial reports and business insights to the management team, aiding in strategic decision-making.
• Collaborating with the sales and marketing team to optimize pricing strategies and ensure the financial viability of promotions and marketing campaigns.
• Analyzing business performance against key business metrics, sharing insights with the management team and making recommendations for improvements.
• Managing relationships with third parties such as auditors and regulatory bodies.
• Leading and managing a small financial team, fostering a supportive and innovative work environment.
• Overseeing the company’s cash flow management and conducting risk management analysis.
• Coordinating with external auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained.
• Collaborating with senior management in setting short and long-term financial strategies and goals.
• Providing strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization; optimizing the handling of banking relationships and initiating appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
• Ensuring the company’s financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth.
• Implementing the necessary systems and controls to ensure the business is financially sound, can react quickly to opportunities, and is safeguarded against risk.
• Preparing year-end accounts and liaising with auditors where required.
• Ensuring compliance with all tax reporting requirements including income tax, VAT and corporation tax.
• Assisting in product pricing and margin analysis, recognizing the specific challenges of a direct-to-consumer business model

What you must have

• A recognized professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACA, CA, ACCA, CIMA or ACA.
• 3+ years previous experience as a Financial Controller, ideally within a direct-to-consumer business, with an excellent understanding of the nuances of e-commerce and retail financial management.
• Experience with Shopify, Amazon, and wholesale business models.
• Proven track record in financial management and accounting, ideally in a high-growth environment.
• Excellent leadership skills with experience in managing and developing a team.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with financial systems, processes, and controls.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to non-finance colleagues.
• Experience in implementing financial systems and processes, particularly in an organization experiencing rapid growth.
• Demonstrable experience in strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting.
• Strong IT skills, including advanced knowledge of accounting software and Excel, along with a good understanding of e-commerce platforms such as Shopify and Amazon.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data to make informed business decisions.
• Solid understanding of UK GAAP, VAT, and corporation tax rules.
• Experience in preparing and presenting financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
• High degree of initiative, personal responsibility, and integrity.
• Resilient and adaptable in a fast-paced environment, capable of handling pressure while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Comfortable in a rapidly changing environment and able to adapt to new challenges and opportunities as the business grows
