We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Controller to join our dynamic finance team. As the Controller, this person will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of our financial reporting. This role will play a critical part in guiding the company’s financial decisions and driving our continued success.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting: Prepare and review accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts, providing valuable insights and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making processes.
3. Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements, including California Sales Tax. Stay up-to-date with changes in financial regulations and update the company’s policies and procedures accordingly.
4. General Ledger Management: Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other financial entries.
5. Accounting Software and Technical Skills: Demonstrate proficiency in using QuickBooks, Excel, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook. Strong technical software skills are required to streamline financial processes and enhance financial reporting capabilities.
6. Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the team’s success and professional growth.
7. Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial data, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Present findings to executive leadership to inform strategic decisions. Developing and reporting Key Performance Indicators from the Financial Statements and supporting documents.
8. Financial Audits: Coordinate and participate in internal and external financial audits, ensuring all required documentation is readily available assisting the Certified Public Accountant and their reviews, and assisting them in financial information needed to complete Annual Tax Returns.
9. Financial Controls: Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraudulent activities.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or Finance Degree
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting roles, with at least 5 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory position.
• Thorough understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance standards.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook is essential.
• Demonstrated experience in full financial statement preparation and analysis.
• Strong knowledge of California Sales Tax laws and regulations.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present financial information to executive leadership.
