Description
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial/Data Analyst to join their team. They operate a cost reduction consultancy and also provide procurement services to their clients.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, intellectually curious by nature, possess expertise in Excel, including advanced proficiency in macros, and Visual Basic, and will have experience with Airtable or other similar database platforms. Experience with Power BI and/or SQL is a plus.

A strong background in data cleansing, financial data analysis, and data visualization is essential. The candidate should demonstrate exceptional critical thinking abilities and be able to analyze details without losing sight of the big picture. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, along with demonstrated Excel expertise (certification a plus).

Key Responsibilities:
-Utilize advanced Excel skills to cleanse, manipulate, and analyze large datasets efficiently, including joining disparate datasets.
-Develop and maintain complex spreadsheets, including the use of macros and Visual Basic for automation and optimization.
-Design, build, and manage databases using Airtable, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
-Aggregate and analyze invoice-level data to establish unit pricing, purchasing patterns, and savings (based on negotiated versus original unit pricing).
-Categorize and analyze General Ledger and Accounts Payable data to identify expense categories based on suppliers, and volumes of expenditure by supplier. This will also encompass establishing a dataset of suppliers and their corresponding expense categories – starting with data from historical projects and adding to it from future projects.
-Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting as required by management.
-Interpret and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders through presentations and reports. This will include the compilation of ‘Baseline’ reports establishing unit pricing and historical spending patterns, ‘Options’ reports demonstrating potential savings based on negotiated rates and historical spending patterns, and ‘Savings’ reports of actual savings captured. -Reports will be based on templates and examples from past projects.
-Apply critical thinking skills to assess data quality, identify anomalies, and propose solutions to improve accuracy and reliability.
-Evaluate business processes and identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.
-Develop and implement data-driven strategies to support business objectives and decision-making.
-Continuously monitor and evaluate data integrity and validity, implementing corrective measures as needed.

Requirements
-Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
-Advanced proficiency in Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and power pivots, writing macros, VBA, and data visualization techniques.
-Excel certification a plus.
-Demonstrated experience with Airtable or similar database tool(s), including designing and building databases.
-Familiarity with Power BI and SQL is a plus.
-Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret and draw insights from complex datasets.
-Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
-Detail-oriented with an ability to not lose sight of the big picture, and who is committed to ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
