Job Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Finance Assistant to manage and maintain our financial records, including sales, expenses, and overall cash flow. This role requires a deep understanding of our business operations to ensure optimal financial management and tax benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and update financial records in QuickBooks.
Ensure accurate categorization of all financial transactions.
Regularly update financial data to ensure all information is current by the end of each month.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, forecast future financial performance, and provide insights on expense management and tax optimization.
Prepare quarterly sales and revenue reports, including detailed analysis of cost of goods and overall expenditures.
Assist in the development of financial projections and models, aiding in business decision-making and potential fundraising efforts.
Work on ad-hoc financial analysis projects, including cost analysis for hiring and sales projections.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in finance, bookkeeping, or a related field.
Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and other financial software.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements and projections.
Knowledge of tax categorization and optimization strategies.
Excellent communication skills and ability to understand complex business operations.

Desirable Additional Skills:

Tax Knowledge: While not a primary requirement, knowledge and experience in handling corporate and personal taxes, especially in the context of New York State laws, will be highly regarded. The ideal candidate should be able to assist with tax preparation, identify tax-saving opportunities, and ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations.

Personal Finance Management: Assistance with the personal finances of the company’s owners is also a valuable skill. This includes budgeting, investment oversight, and general financial planning, ensuring a holistic approach to financial management that aligns personal and business financial health.
