Job Description

We are a leading provider of training and assessment resources to the Australian Vocational Educational Training industry. This includes TAFEs, Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), universities, high schools, companies, charities, government agencies and industry associations.

We are seeking a Formatter / Proof Reader Learning Materials to join our small but very busy team.

The Job:

There are four main tasks involved:

1. Populating learning resources templates with criteria from the Australian government training website using copy and paste. Accuracy and attention to detail are key. Once developed, these are sent to our writers to populate with learning content.
2. Proof reading. Once our writers have populated the templates you have prepared as above, you will be required to proof read each document. You must have absolute attention to detail and be able to spot small errors and anomalous content. Our writers must work fast and there will be errors. It is your job to find them and make the necessary changes. You can use Grammarly or other apps to identify errors but changes must be made in person to maintain the theme and intent.
3. Splitting documents. From the one document, you will split this into four documents by removing the irrelevant parts. It’s easy once you’ve done it a couple of times.
4. Adding images. Using our stock image account, you will find relevant images to support the learning content and place them into the finished document.
Once completed, the finalised documents are sent for distribution to the customer.

The Skills:

You will be the gatekeeper of these documents. You are the final line of defence before these documents are sent to the customer. Mistakes will cost time and money; therefore, mistakes are not an option. You must meticulously read every word on every line, assuming nothing is correct. Your motto will be: “Check, check and triple check.”

You must have these skills:

• Excellent written English

• High level computer literacy: Word and Power Point
• Accuracy
• Attention to detail
• Focus
• Commitment to quality.

In addition, you must be able to ask for help, admit when you are stuck and above all, communicate.

Requirements:

• A reliable computer and internet connection, up to date and official Microsoft Office suite.
• Two monitors would be beneficial.
• Skype account. Initially, until trust is established, you will be monitored during the day by Skype check-ins. Following this, you will be required to be contactable via Skype at all times during working hours. (Don’t like this? Then don’t apply.)

Conditions:

• Hours are Monday to Friday 9 to 5. Western Australia/Philippines time.
• One hour paid lunch from 12:00 to 13:00
• Starting salary is 50,000 PHP per month. Paid weekly via PayPal. This will rise with successful performance. This is a growing company and this is a key role. If you do well and truly benefit the company, the sky is the limit!

• Moonlighters with second jobs. Nope. This will be found out and you will be fired instantly, so don’t even try.
