1. Must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience as a Fraud/Money Laundering Analyst for a UK-based financial institution.

We are making big waves on the Fintech scene and we’re looking for an experienced Fraud / Money Laundering Analyst to join our team. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join an ambitious team with scope for progression.

Job Description:

Whilst supporting existing operational work you will be required to continuously review Fraud MI insight to identify areas of risk and develop business cases to implement mitigating controls to prevent financial loss. You will be responsible for the monitoring, alerting, reporting, and analysis of emerging fraud tactics, tools, and procedures.

Duties will include:

1. You’ll be responsible for the daily monitoring of customer financial activity, completing end-to-end investigation of cases generated through our fraud monitoring system

2. You’ll be communicating directly with customers, completing source of funds questioning, and working to investigate suspicious transactions

3. You’ll be maintaining spreadsheets and matrixes relating to financial crime investigations and fraud perpetrated both by and against customers

4. You’ll be identifying trends and patterns through your investigations, and feeding these back to the business to improve controls against financial crime

Essential Skills:

1. Digital literacy – proficient in use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
2. Must be confident using written communications to manage customer investigations via live chat
3. Ability to work as a team as well as independently
4. Attention to detail and a thorough approach
5. Self-starter, with lots of initiative and sound fincrime/fraud instincts
6. Familiarity with the UK regulatory environment and fraud landscape
7. Ability to make discretionary judgements on specific accounts and transactions as to their risk significance and potential fraudulent status
8. An awareness of the 7 types of financial crime as relevant to the UK and European markets

Essential experience (at least 1 year+)

1. Familiarity using transaction monitoring systems to review hits on potentially suspicious accounts, and making decisions to investigate further or mark as false positive
2. Familiarity with real-time transaction monitoring rules which halt payments, making discretionary judgements on individual transactions to release or return funds
3. Familiarity with the differences between fraud and financially criminal typologies
confidence in navigating potentially confrontational situations in a delicate and respectful way
4. Robust understanding of the UK procedure of indemnifying and returning funds
knowledge of when, how, and why to submit suspicious activity reports (SARs) to the National Crime Agency
