Freight Forwarding Operator

Mekluc Freight is urgently seeking an experienced Freight Forwarding Operator to manage our import and export operations across Air, Sea, and Road Freight. If you have a strong grasp of incoterms, negotiation skills, sea freight procedures, and dangerous goods handling, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
– Coordinate all aspects of freight forwarding, including import/export, Air, Sea, and Road Freight.
– Utilize expert understanding of incoterms and sea freight procedures to optimize shipping processes.
– Negotiate contracts and rates with service providers.
– Track and communicate shipment status, arrange customs clearances, and manage all related documentation.
– Experience using Shipshap or another freight software to frame entry.
– Advise clients on freight procedures and provide solutions tailored to their needs.
– Handle dangerous goods procedures with a keen understanding of regulations.
– Generate sales leads and expand the customer base.
– Build relationships with clients, suppliers, shipping lines, and agents, and respond promptly to queries and concerns.
– Collaborate with the management team to report market trends and activities.

Requirements:
– Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in Freight Forwarding with a strong focus on sea freight procedures.
– In-depth understanding of incoterms, dangerous goods procedures, and the full supply chain, particularly in Freight.
– Proven ability to negotiate with service providers.
– Experience using Shipshap or other freight software.
– Domestic and International experience required.

Job Details:
– Job Type: Full-time, Contract.
– Salary: $110 – $130 per week.
– Working Hours: 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM South Africa time, Monday to Friday.
– Occasionally, there may be work required after normal hours and on weekends.
– Mode of work: Remote (from your personal computer).
– Access to our customs interface system for export and import documents.
– Access to our Dropbox account for document sharing.
– An Outlook account will be created for you.
