Be the first employee in this exciting startup and work directly alongside the cofounders, James and Andrew. We’ve built a successful SaaS in the past, and we’re just itching to do it again!

This would be an excellent opportunity to grow professionally and significantly impact the development of our new venture. Working closely with James and Andrew, you’ll gain invaluable insights from seasoned entrepreneurs and have the chance to shape the startup’s direction from the ground up.

We’ve previously built a SaaS that used machine learning to optimize Amazon listings. Today, we’re doing it again and building a SaaS that uses machine learning to help land investors.

Role Summary:

As a critical member of our team, this individual will play a crucial role in shaping the technological landscape of our platform, focusing on creating an intuitive and seamless user experience for our customers. This role involves translating our company’s vision into functional, stylish, and user-friendly web applications, primarily utilising .

The successful candidate will be involved in the entire software development life cycle, from concept to deployment, ensuring the implementation of best practices in coding standards, software design, and user interface development. Collaborating closely with the cofounders, the frontend engineer will have the opportunity to influence the direction of our product development, suggesting and implementing new features that align with our mission to streamline the land investing process.

Key Responsibilities:

– Develop new user-facing features using .
– Build reusable components and front-end libraries for future use.
– Translate designs and wireframes into high-quality code.
– Write, maintain and optimise automated unit tests and end-to-end testing with Cypress, ensuring high test coverage.
– Perform manual testing of all new changes before release.
– Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
– Stay up-to-date with all recent developments in the JavaScript and space.
– Deploy security updates every week for and all dependencies.
– Propose any upgrades and updates necessary for keeping up with modern security and development best practices.
– Monitor and fix any bugs discovered either reported by one of our team members’ customers or by error reporting.
– Working with a web designer, propose any UI/UX changes you think would be a better choice.
– Creating, maintaining and optimising CI/CD pipelines.
– Responding to critical emergencies such as unplanned outages.

Skills and Experience:

– At least 3 years of experience building frontend applications with , showcasing complete familiarity with the ecosystem (router, Pinia, Vitest, ESLint, Prettier, Cypress).
– Experience with HTML, CSS, and pre-processing platforms like SASS.
– Familiarity with RESTful APIs and modern authorisation mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token.
– Experience with standard front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, etc.
– Familiarity with code versioning tools, such as Git.
– Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
– Passion for quality, attention to detail and hard work ethic.
– Experience managing CI/CD pipelines (Github CI/CD, Bitbucket Pipelines, CircleCI, etc).
– Experience deploying apps to cloud providers (AWS, Google Cloud, Digital Ocean, etc).
– Experience with scrum/agile methodologies.
– Experience with responsive and adaptive design, ensuring interfaces work flawlessly across devices and screen sizes.
– A solid understanding of security best practices, including preventing XSS and CSRF attacks and safely handling user data.
– Committed to continuous learning and staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in frontend development and the ecosystem.
– Although not required, experience or a willingness to learn a backend MVC framework (Ruby on Rails) and machine learning in – Python would be a big plus.

Work Environment:

As a completely remote company, employees are free to work when and wherever they please, allowing employees to balance work with their lifestyle commitments. However, we expect employees to attend online meetings and provide themselves with a suitable working environment free of distractions.

As a remote company, you may be expected to attend meetings in the evenings or mornings; however, we will do our best to keep these meetings at comfortable hours and short wherever possible.

Also, as human beings, we’d do everything possible to meet you in person. Given the online nature of this role, that can be tricky; however, we’ve made it work in the past!
