Job Description

We’re a thriving, profitable, and entirely online/remote company with a global footprint and many exciting tech projects in the pipeline. As we continue to expand, we’re on the lookout for a talented full stack developer to join our team for the long haul.

We offer more than just a job; we provide a platform for growth, and an environment where autonomy and work-life balance aren’t just buzzwords. We work to make sure that the jobs on our team are the ideal job for each individual working with us. If you’re seeking a stable, financially sound organization where your skills can flourish and your ambitions align with our vision, then you’ve come to the right place.

We’re not just looking for any developer; we need someone who thrives on solving complex problems, tackling the toughest challenges and perseveres through difficult work. You’ll often find yourself working with minimal direction, requiring a high degree of autonomy and self-motivation. You’ll need to learn on the job and figure things out – as a way of life.

Examples of your responsibilities and the types of problems you solve might include but will not be limited to:

– Updating pages on our website with dynamic content and creating dynamic pages, using complex heuristics in order to customize user experience.
– Working on complex user interfaces, such as admin dashboards, built with an eye towards scientific workflow efficiency.
– Integrating third-party services, such as payment gateways or maps APIs, to enhance the functionality of our platform without a performance hit.
– Troubleshooting and resolving production issues, such as performance bottlenecks or security vulnerabilities, and other mysterious problems.
– Writing comprehensive test suites using RSpec or similar frameworks to ensure the reliability and stability of our application.
– Evaluating and improving our conversion funnels and analytics systems, and extracting meaningful actionable data and insights from user behavior.
– Putting together an MVP in two days, and making live updates throughout the week, sometimes within hours or even minutes of receiving market feedback.

This is not a programming job for the average developer. This is a software engineering job for the top players, or those who are committed to becoming an A-Player. Your responsibilities will broaden your skill-set and give you career building accomplishments. Only apply if you intend on being truly challenged and developing as a software professional. You will be required to invest in yourself, and must be a continuous learner, to succeed in this role.

Finally: attention to detail isn’t just a requirement; it’s a way of life here. We’re obsessed with quality and security, and we need someone who shares our commitment to meticulousness and who can maintain a vigilant eye on safeguarding our systems and data.

Required Skills
– You must be a professional programmer, software engineer, computer scientist or computer engineer with a college degree or equivalent experience.
– Proven full-stack development experience.
– Great Ruby & Rails knowledge.
– Excellent HTML/CSS/Javascript (Bootstrap & jQuery preferred).
– Database administration experience with MySQL.
– Real world website administration experience.
– Excellent communication skills.

Where, how, and when are you required to work?
You can be anywhere in the world as long as you can reliably work on the schedule you commit to. You can take as much unpaid time off as you want as long as it’s coordinated with your manager.

We have team members across multiple time zones. Once your training is complete, you’ll have flexible hours and get to choose when you do the bulk of your work. You will need to accommodate the team and overlap some part of your hours with Pacific Time.

Compensation
– If you skipped this part, be sure to go back and read the whole posting very carefully before applying.
How much you earn depends on your work and what projects you complete. You will earn per project (we are a results only work environment, search for it on Google if you don’t know what that means). Payments will be made monthly.
– For the projects we have in mind, we anticipate an equivalence to $40,000 CAD annual salary. ($20 CAD per hour.)
– We routinely pay significant individual and team bonuses that surpass the salary.
