Job Description

Full stack WordPress/WooCommerce developer
We are seeking a full stack developer for our WordPress/WooCommerce website. Our website has been heavily customized by our senior developer, so our additional developer needs to be comfortable implementing their programming solutions under their supervision and without breaking a potentially delicate ecosystem.
All applicants must be well-experienced and possess skills in the following areas:

– Website development
– HTML
– CSS
– JavaScript
– PHP
– WordPress
– WooCommerce
– MySQL
– API
Below are samples of the projects we need completed. They do not indicate the full skillset we require of our developer. The projects will vary in complexity and scope. It is essential that our developer knows how to properly execute the needed changes without negatively impacting our website or server’s overall function, speed, and security.

Shipping A/B test plugin
Create a plugin so we can test different shipping method prices on checkout. Some website visitors would see shipping method A and others would see shipping method B. We may need to target certain visitors by location, items in cart, etc. Through a dashboard, we need to see analytics such us order total and conversion rate for the different test groups.

Link product listings by attribute
Some of our product listings have many variations which tend to slow down the page. In these cases, we split up the listing into multiple. For the best user experience, the user needs to be able to see the full selection of attribute options regardless of which listing they are on. See the following as an example:
/en-ca/products/zuludiver-quick-release-sailcloth-padded-divers-watch-strap-black-grey
Both colour options are shown on this page, but when you click to a different colour it will load a new page. We must link together some of our listings in a similar way.

Script to set default variant selection
We have almost 4000 product listings. Almost none of them have a default variant selected when landing on the page. We need to automatically set the default variant for all these listings in a dynamic way where the most popular (by sales number) and in stock variant is the default.

Custom shipping settings
WooCommerce does not have the ability to block shipping classes from different shipping methods. We need a simple checkbox beside each shipping class in the shipping method settings so that we can toggle them off. When a shipping class is toggled off for a given shipping method, the customers will not see that shipping method if they have a product in their cart from the shipping class.

Hide shipping insurance for gift cards
We have a custom plugin on our website that displays a toggle for “shipping insurance” in the cart and check out. This adds a small fee to their order. If customer is checking out with a gift card product, it does not require shipping so we need the shipping insurance toggle hidden. In the case where there is a gift card plus any other product, the shipping insurance toggle should not be hidden.

URL coupon passing
Often we need programming solutions for our marketing platforms. In the case of Google Ads, we have to set up URL coupon passing. When a shopper clicks on our ad, the URL will contain a parameter that allows the associated coupon to be shown on the landing page.
