Ottit is a full-service bookkeeping agency serving fast-growing e-commerce businesses generating $1-10M a year in revenue. We are seeking a skilled Bookkeeping Team Lead with ample experience in eCommerce and U.S.-based accounting (accrual basis) to manage and lead our bookkeeping team, ensuring top-notch client service and financial accuracy.
Position Description:
We are looking for a proactive and adaptable leader with a positive attitude to join our team as the Bookkeeping Team Lead. In this crucial role, you will actively support and manage a team of bookkeepers, overseeing their work to maintain accurate financial records, process transactions, reconcile accounts, and ensure compliance. Your responsibilities will also include onboarding and managing customer records, handling inventory assets, and facilitating financial closing activities.
Responsibilities:
-Lead and supervise a team of bookkeepers, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
-Maintain records of financial transactions by establishing accounts; posting transactions; ensuring legal requirements compliance.
-Develop a system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts; defining bookkeeping policies and procedures.
-Oversee and conduct bank reconciliation tasks.
-Develop rules for recurring transactions.
-Establish a chart of accounts for specific line items.
-Ensure the maintenance of accurate and timely financial records while performing daily operational tasks.
-Take ownership of various account reconciliations, financial closing activities, and other projects to support the financial close process.
-Manage monthly financial closing activities, including procedures, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
-Perform regular procedures to reconcile e-commerce activities on a weekly basis.
-Contribute to special projects assigned by the department or organization.
-Assist in the implementation of internal controls through the creation of policies and procedures.
-Create and recommend best practice procedures for accounting activities, as well as identify opportunities for process improvements.
-Maintain historical records by filing documents.
-Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
-Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Qualifications:
-At least 5 years of active administrative and bookkeeping experience (intermediate to expert skill set)
-If CPA graduate, at least 3 years of active administrative and bookkeeping experience
-Experience in financial reporting with an understanding of SEC and US GAAP regulations required
-Proficient in using a CRM (HubSpot)
-Proficient in A2X Accounting software use
-QBO Certified ProAdvisor and/or Xero Certified (QBO Required)
-Intermediate to expert level experience in Quickbooks Online and Xero
-Deep understanding of e-commerce and relevant software used by e-commerce businesses
-Analytical mindset & ability to work with large sets of data
-Ability to work under pressure, often in a deadline-driven environment, and ability to perform several tasks concurrently
-Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and superior attention to detail
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Willingness to work U.S. hours
