Job Description

In need of a long-term video editor to help me with the KJMD Youtube Channel: /channel/UC8KZzzSLN6r0jbPJvWC5f9g/

This will require roughly 30 hours per week on average.

You will be working with me directly in addition to my content team (social media managers, editors, etc.). The right candidate has exceptional attention to detail and is thorough (including with this job post). Additionally, I prioritize strong communication skills and integrity. Organization and meticulousness is central to my work philosophy, and an ideal candidate would share similar priorities. Timeliness is non-negotiable.

REQUIREMENTS
– Detail-oriented, clear communicator, able to follow instructions
– Reliable & integrous. Say what you’ll do and do what you say
– Resourceful, organized, and proactive. As you face challenges, you should be able to think independently and come up with appropriate solutions
– Intimately familiar with either Final Cut or Adobe editing suite
– Fast computer (able to edit 4K footage)
– Fast internet (to download and upload files)
– Familiar with color correction and grading
– Experience with Photoshop (to make thumbnails)

MY WORK FLOW
1. I will upload video files + separate audio files. Please visit YouTube channel (KJMD) for examples so you know what to expect.
2. There is generally a script for these videos. I film with 2 cameras, recording 4k footage on a studio + B roll taken with my iPhone. I record audio on a separate DR10L device and you will be responsible for gathering additional B rolls from stock footage.
3. You send me a first draft. This first draft should be polished and YouTube-ready, including color correction & grading, cuts/transitions, text, and B roll. I would also like to see 3 thumbnail drafts at this time.
4. I will provide feedback on that first draft, as well as the thumbnails, and usually the second draft should be ready to publish on YouTube. Occasionally, a third draft may be required, but we shouldn’t ever have to go to a 4th draft.
5. Our team will upload and publish to YouTube.

Above describes the steps for KJMD YouTube videos. At the beginning, there will be more back and forth as we align on style and expectations. However, over time, I expect you to be making more decisions on your own as to what would look good and what would work.
