Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Grant Writer to join our team. The Grant Writer will play a crucial role in identifying, defining, and developing funding sources to support our existing and planned program activities. This individual will lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies. The successful candidate should have a strong track record of securing grants and possess excellent writing and research skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Grant Research and Identification:
Conduct comprehensive research to identify potential funding sources, including federal, state, foundation, and corporate grant opportunities.
Analyze and prioritize grants based on alignment with organizational goals and eligibility criteria.
Stay updated on grant application deadlines and requirements.
2. Proposal Development:
Collaborate with program managers and stakeholders to define project goals, objectives, and budgetary needs.
Lead the development of grant proposals, ensuring they are well-structured, compelling, and align with grantor guidelines.
Customize proposals to effectively communicate the organization’s mission, programs, and impact.
3. Writing and Editing:
Write clear, concise, and persuasive grant narratives and supporting documents.
Edit and proofread grant proposals for accuracy, coherence, and adherence to grantor guidelines.
Ensure that proposals are submitted in a timely manner.
4. Budget Planning and Justification:
Collaborate with the finance team to create accurate project budgets, including detailed budget narratives.
Justify budget items and align them with the proposed project activities.
Ensure compliance with grantor budgetary requirements.
5. Relationship Building:
Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with grantors and funding agencies.
Communicate with grantor representatives to clarify grant guidelines, expectations, and reporting requirements.
Attend meetings, conferences, and workshops to network and stay informed about grant opportunities.
6. Reporting and Compliance:
Work with program managers to ensure grant-funded projects are executed in accordance with grant agreements and compliance requirements.
Prepare and submit grant progress reports and financial statements as required by grantors.
Monitor and maintain records of all grant-related activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred).
Proven experience in grant writing and securing funding from federal, state, foundation, or corporate sources.
Excellent research, writing, and editing skills.
Strong organizational and project management abilities.
Proficiency in budget planning and financial reporting.
Familiarity with grant application software and databases.
Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
