Job Description

Role: Graphic Designer (Project Based)

Mission / Purpose

The Graphic Designer is a key player in the book creation process. The designs made by the artist will be used for books published by Leaders Press. The Graphic Designer will be contacted by the COO, Publishing Directors, and others involved in the publishing process. Professionalism, follow-through, keen attention to detail, and fast response time are important qualities for the role. Given the nature of this position, it is imperative that the designer make Leaders Press responsibilities a priority.

Responsibilities:

· Study design briefs and determine requirements
· Schedule projects and define budget constraints
· Conceptualize visuals based on requirements
· Prepare rough drafts and present ideas
· Develop illustrations, logos and other designs using software or by hand
· Use the appropriate colors and layouts for each graphic
· Work with copywriters and creative director to produce final design
· Test graphics across various media
· Amend designs after feedback
· Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and on-brand
· Provide graphics in required formats (e.g., PDF, .jpg, .ai) and resolutions (e.g. minimum 300 DPI+)

Skills:

· Proven graphic design experience
· A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics
· Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop)
· A keen eye for aesthetics and details
· Excellent communication skills
· Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines
· Degree in Design, Fine Arts or related field is a plus
· Cover design experience is a plus
