Qualifications

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Home Health Medicare Biller to join our team in California. As a Home Health Medicare Biller, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely billing for our home health services while adhering to Medicare guidelines and regulations. Your expertise in handling Medicare claims and reimbursement processes will be essential in optimizing revenue cycle management and supporting the financial stability of our organization.

Required:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare administration, billing, or related fields is a plus.
Proven experience as a Medicare Biller in a home health setting or similar healthcare environment in California.
Solid knowledge of Medicare guidelines, regulations, and coding procedures related to home health services.
Proficiency in using billing software and EHR systems.
Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills to handle claim denials and payment discrepancies.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet tight deadlines.
Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding systems.
Demonstrates a “growth mindset,” with a proactive attitude towards learning and improving skills, coupled with a strong sense of personal responsibility and initiative in achieving goals

Your Day to Day Activities

The Home Health Biller will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities
Medicare Billing and Claims Submission:
Prepare and submit accurate Medicare claims for home health services rendered by our agency.
Verify patient insurance information, eligibility, and Medicare coverage.
Review medical documentation to ensure compliance with Medicare guidelines for billing purposes.
Resolve any claim denials, rejections, or discrepancies promptly and efficiently.
Reimbursement and Payment Processing:
Monitor the status of submitted claims and follow up with Medicare and other payers to expedite reimbursement.
Post payments and remittances accurately into the billing system.
Analyze payment discrepancies and take appropriate actions to reconcile outstanding balances.
Compliance and Documentation:
Stay up-to-date with Medicare regulations, guidelines, and coding requirements.
Ensure compliance with all relevant billing and coding rules to avoid potential penalties or audits.
Maintain thorough and organized documentation related to billing and claims for auditing purposes.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Prepare regular reports on billing and collection metrics, including aging reports, denial rates, and reimbursement trends.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and revenue optimization.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with the billing team, clinical staff, and administrative personnel to address billing-related concerns and ensure a streamlined workflow.
Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding billing inquiries and resolution.
Software Utilization:
Utilize billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems proficiently to manage billing tasks efficiently.
