Job Description

We seek a detail-oriented and experienced HR Generalist to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in managing our human resources operations, focusing on payroll, bookkeeping, and compliance with New York State payroll and employment processes. The ideal candidate will be proficient in managing payroll systems, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, and validating employment insurance.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Management:

• Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Maintain payroll records, including wage deductions, benefits, and other adjustments.
• Address payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies.

Bookkeeping:

• Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable and receivable data.
• Reconcile accounts in a timely manner.
• Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information.

NY State Payroll and Employment Processes:

• Stay updated with New York State employment laws and payroll practices.
• Ensure compliance with state-specific labor laws, tax regulations, and employment standards.
• Prepare and submit required state payroll reports and documentation.

Employment Insurance Validation:

• Verify the accuracy of employment insurance records and claims.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of employment insurance documentation.
• Coordinate with insurance providers and employees to resolve issues and discrepancies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing and bookkeeping.
• In-depth knowledge of New York State payroll and employment laws.
• Proficiency in payroll software and bookkeeping tools (e.g., QuickBooks, ADP).
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and professionalism.

Preferred Skills:

• Certification in HR (PHR, SHRM-CP) or Payroll (CPP).
• Experience with multi-state payroll processing.
• Familiarity with employment insurance processes and requirements.
