Job Description

WHO WE ARE

We’re a small, fast-growing web design agency that works primarily with life coaches. We aim to get more coaching into the world by helping certified life coaches to promote and grow their businesses via beautiful and strategic website design.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an experienced part-time Website Designer who can help our clients grow their businesses by providing high-quality website designs.

Currently, we have a 3rd-party design agency managing all our web design needs. While this setup works fine, because the design team isn’t on our internal communication channels, it’s challenging to help them grow and adapt to our design best practices.

Frankly, the owner (that’s me, **Jennie**) spends quite a bit of time giving that design team feedback. It’s time to bring in you, an in-house web designer, to really take ownership of our client’s design needs and make our design process your own!

You have the ability to design websites using Photoshop, Figma, or similar software so that our development team can easily extract the images and design styles that are needed to create our sites. You’re familiar with responsive web design so our sites look good on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. Oh, and you get a sense of delight when a client (or me, Jennie) asks for changes to a design because you know that every revision will make the end result even better!

You’re willing to learn and hungry to improve your craft. You love spending the day creating new website designs and get a thrill when you find *just the right* stock photo for a specific section. You’re reasonably quick to create designs without sacrificing quality (though we don’t expect you to be a superhero), and you’re keen to educate yourself with our education and course library so you can get even better at designing.

You have the ability to communicate in English with our team and our clients. You have a fast computer with a reliable internet connection. Ideally, you also have some kind of backup internet, as well as a headset, microphone, and video camera for team meetings.

You’ll report directly to the owner of the agency (hi there, Jennie again), and I’ll give you feedback on your work. It’s fine if you work normal work hours in your time zone, though we will meet weekly via Zoom at a time that’s reasonably convenient for the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your job will be to use your past experience to:

– Design website mock-ups in photoshop, Figma, or similar that reflect the given wireframe and project brief
– Revise the website mock-ups according to client feedback during the project
– Oversee design project workflow, schedule, and communication for the project
– Improve the processes for design projects so that we can improve capacity
– Create internal social media graphics for our business

EXPERIENCE

We care more about a high skill level than years of experience, but we expect that you have at least 5 years of experience and a high level of confidence in web design and responsive design.

You have expert knowledge of Adobe’s suite of tools, Figma, or similar.

You’re keen to help improve our design processes and procedures.

You’re comfortable using internal communication tools like Google Drive, Zoom, Slack, and Notion for team collaboration and client relationship management.

You’re also not shy about being (humbly) confident enough to push back on the leadership team and express your opinion if you think the ship is heading off course. We encourage that.

HOW WE WILL HELP YOU SUCCEED

We want you to succeed in this role. We will provide any additional training you may need to get on board and hit the ground running. We’re not going to teach you how to do your job because your past experience will serve you well.

However, we will train you regarding our systems, our products, and our clients so you can apply your skills to help us achieve our mission. We will also provide access to additional design training programs that will help you grow your skills and contribute even more to our team.

We will also listen to you, see you for who you are, and encourage you to bring your entire self to work. We are humans first, work colleagues second.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE

This is a part-time role with the potential to grow to full-time. We’re not looking for an agency.
